Social Committee
The CPA Social Committee organizes events that help CPA members and their families to integrate into the larger Caltech community. We do this through our monthly social hours, the annual CPA BBQ, and regular trips off campus. The Social Committee Chair is Adrian Brückner.
Sign up for the CPA mailing list, follow us on Facebook and join the public Facebook group to receive information about upcoming events, reminders of these and notification of changes to the time/location.
Monthly or Bi-Monthly CPA Happy Hour
The CPA Happy Hours are usually on the first Friday of every month, from 6 pm onwards in the one of the Recreation Rooms of the Catalina Apartments (buildings 106, 111, 116 in the Campus Map), although sometimes also at the Alumni house on Hill. The Happy Hours are a great opportunity to come and meet other CPA members in a relaxed, pleasant atmosphere with snacks and plenty of free drinks provided. Bring the whole family! Annual CPA BBQ
Each summer, we have BBQ catered food with vegetarian options, drinks, kids games, a raffle with lots of great prizes and much more - This is always a popular and fun event! Check our Photo Albums.
Off-campus events
The Social Committee also organizes a variety of events which take place off campus. These occur a few times a year and include:
Recent trips have included easter egg search, beach bonfire, ten-pin bowling, hiking, open-air theater, Disney Hall and Hollywood Bowl concerts, whale watching and sports events (like MLB baseball, NCAA football and NBA basketball games). We try to cater for a range of interests with these events, and are always open to suggestions from the postdoc community. Contact the Social Committee if you have an idea for a future outing!

CPA hikes
CPA organizes bi-weekly hikes in many of the beautiful hiking trails in the LA area. We usually meet at campus every other Sunday morning and go with a transportation provided by CPA and volunteers. The bi-weekly hikes provide a good opportunity for postdocs to explore the natural beauty in this area as well as a platform for discussions on science, postdoc life, career development.
